The first swampsoccer event was held in late summer 2004 by amateur players in Ísafjörður. They got really interested in swampsoccer after a trip to Finland to take part in the world championships. After the great success and goood media coverage, it was decided to hold a bigger tournament in 2005. The event in 2005 was a hit and in November 2005 the Icelandic Swampsoccer Association was founded.
The Swamp soccer in Isafjordur is a non-profit oraganisation that is organised by a group of people willing to donenate their hard work to develop a internation event in the town of Isafjordur. All entry fees and money from sponsors is all used to make the event bigger an better. Nobody of the organisers recives any money for their contribition!!
