The history of swampsoccer is very short. It all startedabout seven years ago when elite cross country skiers in northern Finland where looking for something different to stay in shape during the summer months. And they started playing soccer in the swamps!
After a while, they realised that this new and sputnik sport could appeal to other weird people all around the world. So, they started the World championships in swampsoccer and last year about 10.000 people came to the small village of Hyrynsalmi in northern Finland for a weekend of joy, playing and watching swampsoccer... among other things!
The website for the Finnish swampsoccer is www.swampsoccer.net.
